The Kel-Tec PLR-16 is a lightweight gas-operated semi-automatic pistol chambered for .223 Remington and 5.56 NATO. Its 9.2-inch barrel and M16-style breech locking system provide a familiar operating design, while the high-impact glass fiber reinforced polymer construction keeps weight to approximately 3.3 pounds. M16-type front sights and an adjustable rear sight support practical range use. An integrated MIL-STD-1913 Picatinny rail accommodates standard accessories, and the 1/2×28 threaded muzzle accepts compatible muzzle devices. The ambidextrous push bolt safety provides convenient control for right- or left-handed users.
