Layaway

Reserve now, pay over time

Firearm layaway lets you lock today’s price on an item you want and pay it off in your own time, with no credit check, no interest and no debt. When the balance is clear, the firearm ships to your dealer. Until then it sits in our building with your name on it.

Layaway is not financing. Nobody runs your credit, nothing is reported to a credit bureau, and no interest accrues. You are simply paying for something before you take it, which is how people bought expensive things for most of the last century.

How Firearm Layaway Works

  1. Choose your itemMost in-stock firearms, safes and higher-value optics are eligible. Ammunition, clearance items and special orders are not.
  2. Pay the depositTwenty percent secures the item. It comes off the shelf, out of live inventory and into the layaway rack immediately, so nobody else can buy it.
  3. Pay it downPay whatever suits you whenever suits you, online through your account, by phone, or by adding a gift card balance. Make at least one payment every 30 days to keep the plan active.
  4. Clear the balanceOnce the final payment lands, the order moves into normal fulfilment.
  5. Complete the transferFor a firearm, we verify your dealer and ship exactly as with any other order. You collect in person after the usual paperwork and background check.

What layaway is good for

Locking a price

Ammunition and firearm prices move with supply. If you expect a rise, or an item is on a promotion that ends this week, layaway holds the number.

Securing scarce stock

Limited runs and hard-to-find models disappear. A deposit takes yours out of circulation while you save.

Budgeting without borrowing

A $1,200 rifle across four monthly payments is manageable. The same rifle on a credit card at revolving interest is a different and worse proposition.

Planning ahead

Start in spring, finish before the season opens, and avoid competing with everyone else for the same stock in September.

Missed payments and cancellation

If 30 days pass with no payment, we email a reminder and give you a further 15 days. If nothing arrives, the plan is cancelled, the item returns to stock, and you are refunded what you paid less the 10% cancellation fee. We would much rather extend a plan than cancel one, so tell us if something has changed and we will work with you. Extensions are granted on request in almost every genuine case.

You can cancel voluntarily at any time and receive the same treatment: your payments back, less the cancellation fee. That fee is not a punishment, it covers holding stock out of sale for months, which is a real cost.

Changes to a plan

  • Swapping items is possible once per plan, provided the new item is equal or greater in value, and the price of the new item is the price on the day of the swap.
  • Paying early carries no penalty. Clear it whenever you like.
  • Adding to a plan is not possible. Start a second plan instead, which keeps the accounting clean for both of us.
  • Transferring a plan to another person is not permitted, since the eventual transfer must be to the buyer.

What is not eligible

Ammunition and reloading components, gift cards, NFA and Class III items, special orders and custom builds, clearance and open-box items, and any order under $200. Items already discounted under a manufacturer promotion may be excluded where the promotion requires immediate purchase.

A word about affordability

Layaway is a budgeting tool, not a reason to buy something you cannot afford. If clearing a plan would mean missing a bill, buy the cheaper option or wait. That advice costs us margin and it is still the right advice.

Common Questions About Firearm Layaway

Is firearm layaway a good option for me?

Layaway works best when you already know which item you want and would rather pay it off with cash than open a line of credit. Because there is no interest and no credit check, the total you pay never changes as long as you complete the schedule you agreed to.

How much deposit do I need to start a layaway plan?

A 20% deposit secures your item and takes it out of live inventory immediately, so nobody else can buy it. The minimum order to qualify for layaway is $200.

What happens if I miss a payment?

If 30 days pass with no payment, we send a reminder and give you a further 15 days. If nothing arrives after that, the plan is cancelled, the item returns to stock, and you are refunded what you paid minus a 10% cancellation fee. Extensions are granted in almost every genuine case if you let us know.

What items are not eligible for layaway?

Ammunition and reloading components, gift cards, NFA and Class III items, special orders and custom builds, clearance and open-box items, and any order under $200 are not eligible for layaway.

How long can a layaway plan run?

Plans run up to 90 days for orders under $1,000, and up to 180 days for orders above that, as long as at least one payment is made every 30 days.

Firearm Layaway: Which Items Are Best Suited

Firearm layaway works best for a firearm you already know you want but do not need immediately, such as a hunting rifle bought months ahead of season or a competition handgun you are saving toward. Firearm layaway is not designed for time-sensitive purchases, since the item stays with us until the firearm layaway plan is fully paid.

Handgun available on firearm layaway
Competition handguns are a common firearm layaway choice.
Rifle eligible for firearm layaway plans
Hunting rifles bought ahead of season are another popular firearm layaway pick.

What happens if I miss a firearm layaway payment?

A single missed firearm layaway payment usually triggers a reminder before anything else happens. If a firearm layaway plan lapses entirely without contact, the item goes back into inventory and any payments made are handled under the layaway section of our company policies.

Can I pay off firearm layaway early?

Yes. You can pay off a firearm layaway balance early at any time with no penalty, and the FFL transfer process begins as soon as the firearm layaway plan is paid in full.
